- Which are your main musical influences, in and
outside film music?
Artists that I like: Björk, Nick Cave, Frank
Zappa, Danny Elfman.
-
How did you get involved with this film?
I
was on holiday visiting my dad, who is working in
Madrid, when I received the call from the main composer
of the project. He said: we need a song for the
opening sequence within 10 days!. Three days later
I returned to Berlin. After five days I sent my first
layout to the director.
-
What were the main indications of the director?
The
director used a Bob Dylan song as a layout music.
The song worked pretty good for me. So, I aimed for
a similar mood: Slow and full of pain and sorrow.
-
Which what orchestra or musical instruments have you
worked with in the song?
For
What's the difference? I worked with a guitar
player who performed backing vocals as well and a
violin player. Although I can play guitar myself I
preferred having someone else improvising. I did the
main vocals by myself. Everything else was programmed
by the co-producer Nils Vogel and by myself. One could
call the movie intentionally trashy - that's
why we added some bits that are slightly out-of-tune.
